1816                Charlotte Bronte was born in April 21

1839-1841       Charlotte works at governess

1847                Charlotte publishes Jane Eyre under the name Currer Bell. It is an immediate success.

1848-1849       Emily dies of tuberculosis. Anne also become sick.      

1853                Charlotte publishes Villette, a novel set in Brussels, under the name Currer Bell.

1854                Charlotte marries Arthur Bell Nichols. She begins but does not finish the novel Emma.               

1855                Charlotte dies while pregnant. She is buried in Haworth.
